This section focuses on visitor carrying capacity as a key element of sustainable and regenerative tourism planning. It introduces the different types of carrying capacity, including physical, environmental, psychological, and social capacity, and explains how they help destinations understand their limits and manage visitor pressure. Participants will also explore monitoring tools such as GIS, surveys, tracking apps, and dashboards, as well as management techniques including reservation systems, real-time data use, and nudging strategies to guide visitor behaviour and protect destination quality.
