About Course
This course introduces learners to the role of digitalisation as a practical lever for sustainable destination management. Through short lessons, interactive exercises, mapping activities, and quizzes, participants will learn how digital tools can support measurable sustainability outcomes in tourism, including better data monitoring and ESG-ready indicators, visitor flow management, and smart mobility solutions.
The course is structured around three units.
Unit 1 builds a shared understanding of digitalisation for tourism sustainability, focusing on four key levers: data, resources, flows and mobility, and trust-first communication. Learners explore how to connect destination challenges with appropriate digital tools and measurable KPIs.
Unit 2 focuses on data, monitoring systems, and ESG-ready indicators, guiding learners in creating practical KPI cards linked to data sources, responsibilities, frequency, and decision-making routines.
Unit 3 introduces digital visitor flow management and smart mobility, showing how tools such as reservation systems, real-time data, nudging, and sustainable transport solutions can reduce pressure, improve visitor experience, and support low-impact mobility.
By the end of the course, learners will be able to identify relevant digital tools for sustainability challenges, connect them to measurable outcomes, design basic monitoring routines, and apply digital interventions to improve destination planning and management.
